I am extremely dedicated to pursuing a career in the arts.  I have chosen to study within the arts since KS4 and during this time have developed many skills and techniques to improve and progress within the field.  My experience has allowed me to explore a large variety of different art practices, such as media, photography and graphics.  This has allowed me to evaluate my true strengths and passions within the subject.  The extensive media campaign used during the Covid pandemic was an additional influence as I was fascinated by the impact Graphic Designers could have on influencing others.  The way in which graphic media was used to promote such a serious message made me realise the importance and value of clear, eye-catching and detailed graphic design.  It made me realise what a difference Graphic Designers could have on society.    

 

I first discovered my passion for Graphic Design in 2018, in year 11.  During this time, I took on extra curricular projects, creating simple designs and graphics basing my work around magazine and sign design.  This developed further, and I seized the opportunity to take on small projects, gaining design experience, through word of mouth, through friends, family and my other interests.  I have created different graphics such as leaflets to advertise a practising musician and for my judo club.  This has grown and I am now responsible for managing my judo club’s social media page,  creating different graphics for them such as posters, web banners and flyers.  I really enjoy the challenge of finding new ways to promote the club and I'm proud of the success I have achieved so far.  As you can see from the Relentless Judo section of my portfolio, I have tried to explore a range of different design styles while giving the club a house style for their promotional material and marketing products.

 

I am extremely excited to now be taking my next steps in the field of Graphic Design and know with my motivation, enthusiasm and ability to project manage, I have the right tools to develop my skills and techniques further within this world.
